Winter in Seattle and Little Black Ants Galore

It's Winter in Seattle and it's freezing at night and morning. Then unusually warm in afternoon.  Most people may not realize that different Ant species can show up year round. Little Black Ants are one of the most common Pest control services needed in the Greater Seattle area. The little pests are also known as Sugar Ants and can be very destructive and annoying. A Little Black Ant infestation is a job for AMPM Exterminators. Customers want to get rid of the ants now.

Seattle homeowner discovers Little Black Ants:

Little Black ants create damage to homes as well as Commercial businesses. The extent of damages would depend on the type of Ant that has infiltrated the home or place of business. A lot of people are unaware of  the type of Ants that are invading the home, buildings or commercial businesses. Professional pest control technicians can and will positively identify the little nuisances. The Seattle homeowner spotted an army of ants marching into the kitchen pantry. The husband was agitated after seeing so many that a call was made to a professional Ant Exterminator to come in to get rid of the Little Black Ants. AMPM Exterminators was the pest control choice. The husband was relieved that the professional pest control technician both identified and eliminated the Little Black Ants infestation. That's the way to Get Rid Of Little Black Ants.

Carpenter Ants:

Carpenter ants are very common and people can be infested with Carpenter Ants for years and not know  it. This is due to the misidentification of the problem as just black ants and harmless. Use of social media is so widespread that searching to identify ants is simple. However if no access to computer search then remember an ant that is larger than 1/4 inch will most likely be a carpenter ant. Both Queens and Kings have wings. The ants are a wood destroying ant and can do considerable damage if left unchecked. Carpenter Ants do not digest the wood. But the pests do excavate to create nests and galleries. Beware that a Carpenter Ant Infestation can be very costly to a homeowner and  business owners. It's imperative that this type of infestation is a job for AMPM Exterminators.

Moisture Ants:

A moisture ant is smaller and much harder to identify and are also destructive to wood. The moisture ants are like a Carpenter Ant but less destructive.  Moisture ants are attracted to rotten and moist wood. The pests are small like a Sugar Ant and are reddish in color. The back of the bodies are almost translucent and shaped like a top.  When seeing these types of ants be prepared to investigate for water damaged wood. Don't wait around and try getting rid of the moisture ants with home remedies. This is a job for AMPM Exterminators.

Pavement Ants:

Pavement Ants are a very common type of ant that are found in driveways. Pavement Ants are small like a Sugar ant or moisture ant. The difference being it has a very large head and smaller body. Can be found inside the home and tend to stay low on the ground.  The Pavement Ants are less of a nuisance because the ants don't spread like a Sugar Ant does and are really easy to get rid of. Pest Control services can get rid of these ants quickly and effectively. Oh yes it would be time to call AMPM Exterminators.

Sugar Ants:

Sugar Ants are difficult to get rid of. Just about all homeowners and business owners deal with Sugar Ants at some point in the home or buildings. The pests  are strictly a nuisance and do no damage, but are extremely hard to get rid of. The ants are the tiny Little Black Ants that are all over the kitchen and are attracted to anything sweet and yes even protein. Does one truly want to fool around with trying to get rid of a Sugar Ant infestation. Recommendations would be to call AMPM Exterminators to take care of all pest control needs.

ANT CONTROL EXPERTS REVEAL WHY THE RAINY SEASON IN SEATTLE WILL BRING ANTS TO HOMES AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

Pest Control For Ants

It doesn’t matter if a homeowner finds them carrying crumbs in the kitchen, living inside of rotted wood on a windowsill or scuttling across the living room rug–ants are never welcome guests in a home in the Seattle area. Unfortunately, most homes in the area will be in need of ant control services or products at some point because these pests are incredibly common.
Ants in the house can be embarrassing, especially when company arrives and sees  little house guests walking on the counters. People can immediately think housekeeping skills are not up to par and that is why there ants infestation. Most people who discover ants want to deal with the problem quickly, but that doesn’t mean that everyone wants to call an ant exterminator immediately. Many homeowners want to try and handle ant control on their own before they call a Seattle pest control company. For minor infestations, it is sometimes possible to deal with ants without the help of Seattle exterminators, while other times it is best to leave the matter up to aSeattle pest control company.

Tips for Using Ant Control Products

When using DIY ant control products it’s important to:
– First identify the species of ants in the Seattle home. Different ant control products are required for different species of ants. Before using any ant extermination product, double check an online reference guide to determine what type of ants are present.
– Treat not just visible ants. To successfully exterminate ants, the entire colony must be treated. This means that Seattle homeowners must locate the source of the ants, the place where the colony is residing. Then, ant control sprays should be used in these locations to fully eradicate the infestation.
– Place bait traps in the right locations. Bait traps can be effective for dealing with small colonies that are situated indoors in some cases, but to work properly, the traps must be placed in areas where the worker ants have been spotted. The workers are drawn to the bait and then carry the poison back to the colony, where hopefully the other ants will be killed.
– Follow instructions carefully. Using ant control products incorrectly won’t just lead to poor results; it can also pose a risk of illness or injury to family members or pets.

When to Hire a Seattle Pest Control Company

Seattle exterminators can assist with any ant control problem. Signs that homeowners should call a Seattle ant pest control company instead of trying to treat ants on their own include:
– Uncertainty about Species. A Seattle exterminator will be able to determine which professional ant control products are best.
– Uncertainty About Colony Location. Seattle ant control companies know how to locate the source of the infestation to ensure full eradication.

PEST CONTROL REPORTS SHOWING HOW TRAVEL HAS BECOME EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF THE BED BUG INFESTATED HOTELS

Seattle area has been hit hard by these bloodsucking pests. Seattle exterminators are getting more calls than ever before for bed bug pest control services as incidences of infestations are on the rise. Many homeowners that suspect they have a bedbug infestation prefer to try and address the problem without the help of a Seattle pest control company. While it’s possible to do so, success depends greatly on using the right DIY bed bug removal method.
Identifying the Bed bugs and Bites
Before homeowners can consider DIY bed bug removal options or call Seattle exterminators to eliminate bed bugs, they first need to recognize the signs of infestation. The most obvious sign of bed bugs is seeing the bugs themselves. Often present on mattresses and upholstered furnishings, bed bugs are roughly the size of an apple seed and are light brown in color. Homeowners may also find crunchy, empty skins shed by juvenile bed bugs that have entered the molting phase or brown and black stains on linens caused by bed bug feces. Small red welts on the skin that develop after bites are also giveaways that a home is infested with bed bugs.
It can take up to 12 days for infested individuals to notice that they have been attacked by the bugs and only about half of the overall inhabitants notice initial bite marks. Individuals who are over age 65 are unlikely to notice a bite. A report discovered that 40% these seniors are either not bitten or don’t notice when they are.A definitive sighting is the only way for infested individuals to absolutely verify the existence of the bugs in their home, although an infestation may be suspected with other signs such as a foul odor. The smell is often described as moldy and excessively sweet. Additionally, the odor is often compared to overly ripened strawberries or syrup.Another sign is small fecal stains that are dark red. Individuals can spot the insects by using a bright light with a hand lens.
Treating the Infestation
To eliminate bedbugs from a home, it’s necessary to use insecticides that are approved for bedbugs. These include aerosol sprays and dusts. All of the furnishings in a room where bed bugs were found must be treated. This includes mattresses, night stands, coffee tables, chests, dressers, couches, chairs and entertainment centers. It’s also necessary to treat the baseboards and other trim used in a home. Additionally, linens must be laundered at high temperatures to kill any bedbugs or eggs.
Cleaning the Environment
Simply treating a home that has been infested with bed bugs is usually not enough to fully deal with an infestation. To ensure the success of treatment and prevent re-infestation, homeowners often need to do the following:
• Vacuum every room of the home daily for several days.
• Check for openings around windows, door frames, electrical outlets and plumbing and have them caulked or sealed to keep bed bugs out.
• Use a mattress protector to seal the bed and keep pests out in the future.
• Scrub down all hard surfaces in every room that was home to an infestation using a high quality soap and a bristle scrub brush.

HOW TO GET RID OF ROACHES: CAN I CONTROL ROACHES MYSELF?

Cockroach Control & Treatment | Pest Control Services

Homeowners who discover roaches have two options available to them: try to remove roaches on their own using DIY roach pest control products or call one of the many Seattle exterminators in the area for assistance. If you have a severe infestation or don’t know where to start, contact a professional pest control company. Many times, having a pest professional assess the problem and initiate treatments can help jump-start control that you continue yourself.
The Seattle area is home to numerous species of cockroaches, and it’s a myth that these bugs only end up in homes where living conditions are poor. While cockroaches do thrive in unsanitary conditions, even clean homes can end up infested with these pests, especially in areas where homes are close together and in condominium units located within single buildings.

Why Worry About Roaches?

Cockroaches don’t just seem dirty; they actually are carriers of germs. Small roaches like the German cockroach and the brown banded cockroach bring along bacteria that can cause severe digestive symptoms and spread diseases like dysentery. Larger cockroaches like the Oriental cockroach, the American cockroach and the Smoky brown cockroach can also spread bacteria that can sicken people and pets. Because of the health risks associated with roaches, it’s important that homeowners take steps to quickly call a Seattle pest control company or to deal with roaches on their own as soon as an infestation is discovered.

Choosing the Right Pest Control Products

There are a number of types of roach pest control products on the market today. Small infestations may be managed with roach traps, which capture cockroaches with a sticky material and are thrown away when they become full. Bait traps can be effective for larger infestations, as they contain poisonous bait that roaches take back to their nests.

Traps

Cockroach traps are used primarily for monitoring purposes.Finding large numbers of cockroaches in traps, is a sign of roaches living or feeding nearby. A serious infestation of cockroaches, will require more than using traps alone probably won’t get rid of them. Traps usually have a bait to attract the cockroaches. Sometimes bait is a poison, so keep traps away from children and pets. Some traps work better for certain kinds of cockroaches; try different traps. Put the traps in the paths cockroaches use, along the edges of walls or in cabinets.

Pesticides

Do it yourself pesticides to kill cockroaches, use the least toxic available. These pesticides will be labeled with the word “Caution.” Pesticides are poisons, so follow label directions and use them carefully. Don’t use pesticides around food or on food preparation surfaces. Keep children and pets away from areas where pesticides have been applied, as the label requires. Never use a pesticide that doesn’t have a label attached to the container, and make sure the pesticide is labeled for indoor use.
There are also natural and synthetic roach sprays that can be applied to areas where cockroaches are known to lurk. These products are often the most effective; however, many of them only work for specific species of cockroaches. This means that homeowners must take the time to find out exactly what type of cockroach is living in their home. It’s also important that all of the nests in a home are treated and that products are used carefully in full accordance with the instructions provided. Otherwise, they may not work as intended.

Hiring a Seattle Pest Control Company

Even when DIY roach pest control products are used correctly, there is still a risk that cockroaches can linger in a Seattle home. Often, homeowners fail to locate all of the roaches, and if consumers aren’t able to determine how roaches got in, it’s possible that the pests will quickly return. That’s why experts typically recommend hiring Seattle exterminators to remove cockroaches from residences in the area. A qualified, professional Seattle Home pest control company will be able to identify the right insecticides to use to kill the roaches quickly and will be able to advise homeowners on how to prevent re-infestation.
For assistance dealing with cockroaches, http://homepestcontrol.us/ is the best choice among Seattle exterminators. Their comprehensive approach to pest control fully eliminates infestations and guards against their return.

KENT WASHINGTON BED BUGS CONTROL SERVICE OR DO-IT-YOURSELF PEST CONTROL

Pest control for Bed bugs

Bed bugs are one of the most difficult pest problems to eradicate quickly. By far, the best solution for bed bugs is to hire a pest control company with experience successfully controlling bed bugs. Unfortunately, this can be expensive and beyond the means of many people. Not being able to afford to hire a professional, and want to attempt do-it-yourself bed bug control, there are some guide to follow. With diligence and patience and some hard work, there is a fighting chance of getting rid of bed bugs.
In buildings, apartments or condominiums, it’s best to alert the property manager. A coordinated bed bug control effort using a pest control company is generally needed in such situations. Bed bugs readily move from apartment to apartment, with many people unaware that they have a problem. If one apartment is infested, adjoining units should be assumed to be infested unless shown otherwise through inspection or monitoring by a bed bug K9. Simply asking tenants whether they have bed bugs is not enough. In one recent study only half of residents in a large apartment with bed bugs knew or admitted to bed bug problem.
Pesticides alone are not the answer to bed bugs. Most of the commonly used pesticides today, including professional products and consumer products advertised for control of bed bugs, are at best moderately effective at controlling these pests. Pesticides must be used with care for safety and with attention to proper application to work well. Aerosol “bug bombs” or “fumigators” are also mostly ineffective in eliminating bed bugs. Aerosol insecticides mainly kill insects that are exposed, and out of their hiding places, not those hidden behind baseboards, in cracks and crevices of the bed, under carpet edging and in walls.

Steps for do-it-yourself bed bug control

Determine which rooms are infested. Bedrooms are the principal locations for bed bugs; however, any room where people sleep or rest in the home may provide harborage for bed bugs. Living rooms with sofas and sofa beds are the next most common sites for bed bugs. Typically an infestation starts in one room and spreads slowly to other places where people sleep. Finding and treat for bed bugs the easier it will be to get rid of them. Wait too long and bed bugs may be found throughout the home or business office building.
It’s generally unnecessary to throw away beds or bedding. It is expensive to replace bedding, and chances are that any new mattresses, box springs or beds you bring into the home will quickly become re-infested. The money to replace a bed or mattress might better be spent on hiring a professional.

Create a safe area to sleep.

This is critical because staying in a bed will reduce the risk of bed bugs spreading throughout the home. If you move to another room to sleep, the bed bugs will eventually follow. Then you’ll have bed bugs in multiple rooms.

Make your bed a safe place to sleep by:

Stripping and vacuuming the mattresses and box springs, and encasing them. Double bag your bedding and wash in hot water and dry for at least 60 minutes . After vacuuming suspected bed bugs from the bed, take your vacuum cleaner outdoors and remove and discard the bag. Purchase a good quality set of bed-bug-proof encasements for mattresses and box springs. Bed bug-proof encasements are fabric sacks into which you slide your mattress or box springs. The zippers on bed bug encasements are designed to be tight enough to prevent even the smallest life stages of the bed bugs from escaping. Also, good bed bug-proof encasements are woven to prevent bed bugs from biting the through the encasement. A good encasement will trap all bed bugs in the mattress and box spring inside, and will be smooth on the outside, providing few places for bed bugs to hide.

Keep the Bed bug Infestation from Spreading

Anything removed from the room should be placed in a sealed plastic bag and treated.
Items that cannot be treated should be placed in a sealed plastic bag and left for an extended period of time to ensure any active bugs are dead.

Empty the vacuum after each use;

Seal the bag and throw it out in an outdoor trash container.
Don’t discard furniture if you can eliminate the bed bugs from it.
If furniture cannot be salvaged, discard it responsibly. Destroy it so someone else won’t be tempted to bring it into their home. For example:
Rip covers and remove stuffing from furniture items.
Use spray paint to mark furniture with “Bed Bugs.”
Take steps to have infested items picked up as soon as possible by the garbage collection service.

Prepare to Treatment for Bed bugs

Jumping straight into control is tempting, but won’t work. Preparing for treatment is essential to getting successful control. It will also help by making it easier for monitoring for bed bugs that haven’t been completely eliminated. This preparation should be conducted whether treatmented by a home or business owner or hiring a professional.

Kill the Bed Bugs

Killing all bed bugs on your bed frame and headboard. Normally this would be done by a pest control professional. Approximately 80% of all bed bugs in the typical infestation are located on the mattress, box spring and bed frame. You’ve encased the mattress and box spring and taken care of that problem. Make sure the bed frame is bed bug free. Vacuuming alone won’t do this. Vacuuming can remove many bed bug adults and nymphs, but it isn’t very good at removing eggs. For this job insecticide sprays and possibly dusts to treat every crevice and void in the bed. For insecticide spray and dust options. Remember that insecticides can be hazardous Read and follow label directions. Read the whole label before spraying or dusting. The label directions are the law and failure to follow the label not only puts the family at risk, it is against the law. Homemade sprays, by the way, are usually less safe than commercial insecticides. Stick with the legal stuff.

Bed bug protected bed after the process of treating the bed

A bed that has been treated, encased and isolated from the rest of the room with Climbup Interceptor cups is a safe place to sleep if they are not carried by the person who is sleeping on the bed.interceptors under all feet of the bed frame to keep bed bugs off. Interceptors are special platforms or cups that are purchased to prevent bed bugs from climbing on to the bed. An interceptor can be as simple as a sticky card placed under a bed post. Better are one of the commercial pitfall traps made specifically for this purpose.

Treat other areas of the home or building

This is perhaps the most challenging part of do-it-yourself bed bug control. If an infestation is early there might not be a need to do anything more than treat and isolate the bed. But if an infestation has spread to other parts of the home, bed isolation may not be good enough. Here is where professional pest control for bed bugs help may be needed.Still determined to do-it-yourself pest control?

Here are some tips that may improve your chances of success:

Prepare the room by separating treated from untreated furniture. This will involve moving all your furniture to one side of the infested room. The process is important because if you treat half of the items in a room and leave other areas untreated, bed bugs may return to the previously treated areas from untreated sites. Take all clothes from drawers, infested closets, etc. and bag them in clear plastic bags are easier to see where things are. Also bag all personal items for example toys, papers, books, electronics, CDs, or anything that could serve as a hiding place for bed bugs and set them aside until they can be carefully treated, cleaned or inspected.

Make sure the method selected is safe, effective and legal;

Consider non-chemical methods of killing bed bugs. Some will be more useful than others.
Heat treatment using a clothes dryer on high heat, black plastic bags in the sun. Pest control professionals have other methods that are not suitable for non-trained individuals to use.
Cold treatment can be successful in the home environment if the freezer is set to 0○ F. You must leave the items in the freezer at that temperature for four days. Reducing the numbers of bugs with these and other non-chemical methods is helpful, but is unlikely to entirely eliminate the infestation.
Systematically treat the room, all cracks and crevices around windows, outlets, blinds, pictures, posters and clocks on walls, baseboards, under edges of carpets and any other crevices or void areas in the room. Remember that immature bed bugs are very tiny. Dozens of bed bugs can hide in a recessed screw hole in a bed frame or dresser. Therefore it’s important that no hiding place be overlooked. Treatment can include vacuuming, but should not be limited to vacuuming only. Vacuums do not remove eggs, and will likely not remove all bed bugs from deeply infested cracks and crevices. Vacuums can remove many bed bugs from mattresses and the exterior of box springs. Sticky tape is another method of picking up bed bugs from furniture, walls, etc.
Examine and treat all furniture: beds, bed frames, dressers, chairs, couches, night stands, etc. following the same procedures. As a piece is treated it can be returned to the parts of the room that have been treated. Note that furniture should be taken apart, drawers and cushions removed in order to inspect and treat every nook and cranny. When treating upholstered furniture, pay attention to each welt, button and fold. stuffed furniture that is infested and too difficult to treat may be discarded. After spraying, return each article of furniture to the part of the room that has been treated. Do not reintroduce any furniture or other items to the treated room until they have been thoroughly cleaned, inspected or treated.

Treat or isolate bagged items:

For washable items research shows that dry cleaning, washing in hot water for 30 minutes, or tumble drying for 60 minutes on high will kill all stages of bed bugs. Non-washables are a little trickier. Items that aren’t needed for a while can just be stored. It takes 2-5 months to kill bed bugs by isolating them in bags, the warmer the temperature, the shorter the survival time for starving bed bugs. Heating bags by placing in direct sunlight is one of the most effective methods during the warm summer months. Seven pounds of items placed in clear bags in direct sunlight on a 95 degree day will get hot enough to kill all bed bug life stages in one afternoon. Also, placing bagged items in a chest freezer (0 degrees F) for 8-10 hours is lethal for bed bugs and their eggs.

Insecticides application treatments:

Select and use insecticides safely. There are no magic sprays that kill bed bugs very well. Most commercial insecticides will kill bed bugs if applied carefully and directly to the insects and their hiding places. An exception is “Bug bombs”, or aerosol foggers. Foggers are mostly ineffective in controlling bed bugs. Because bed bugs hide in crevices and voids where aerosols do not penetrate, they are able to avoid contact with these insecticides. Their use is not recommended.
